Acupuncture is one of the oldest, continually practiced medical therapies on the planet.   Methodically archived scholarly recordings of its use – including Botanical Medicine – date back more than three thousand years.   This cannot be said of most medicine in use today!    MD Anderson’s outstanding scientist/researcher, Dr. Bharat Aggarwal reminds us: ” Today’s  medicine is “conventional medicine.”   Ayruveda + Traditional Chinese Medicine are our true “traditional medicines”.

Acupuncture is probably the most well-known  of the “five branches” or disciplines of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Herbal Medicine, Tui Na (Chinese physiotherapy), Energy Medicine and Nutritional Medicine are the other four disciplines.

Acupuncture involves the skilled insertion of fine-gauge needles – typically as thin as a human hair – into specific “points” on designated “meridians” (energy maps) to induce healing.    Only one-time-use needles are used for each treatment.

Studies have documented the release of endorphins, pain-blocking + pain-relieving chemicals, to accelerate recovery in hundreds of health conditions, as well as activate the nervous system, endocrine system and immune system to restore homeostasis (balance).
